Description

this is a RARE Showstopper!
1940’s Purple Wool Boucle’ Coat with embroidered appliques of bursting flowers along the front and back yoke, collar as well as the shoulders..
This full length purple boucle’ is such an unusual striking color and Rare to find these days from the Forties!
There are a series of cloth covered buttons that run down this fitted bodice to the waist and flares out towards the hemline. There are light shoulder pads and a bit of a puffy sleeve.
There are also 2 side waist pockets, and the lining in them looks great..
The entire coat is lined with a beautiful creamy white rayon satin that has a very nice weight & drape..
The inside label reads:
The EMPORIUM
ST. PAUL
This beauty is in VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION, with some watermark stains and smudge marks along the left side of the hemline’s white lining. ( see last image with arrows.) Other than that area, the lining looks great.
The color of this coat is completely a vivid purple. There is no color fade at all, even though some of the photos look like the fabric is more blue and more purple where it is in the sunlight.. It actually is not. It seems that deep blues and purples always photograph a bit strangely.
