Description
1920’S-30’s Sheer Floral Dress with a handmade flower corsage. The floral pattern seems to be of dahlias in pale yellow with orange on an light olive green background. Very pretty garden delight. There is flouncy fabric along the shoulder yoke and sleeve area. The skirt is a drop waist with gathered fabric in 3 tiered layers.
These dresses were often called garden party dresses, and would be great for a summer event outside, and perfect for a wedding. Think Great Gatsby or Downton Abbey..
This garment is in VERY GOOD VINTAGE CONDITION.. with a few minor flaws. There is a small stitched up repair on the side of the waist area..(see last image with arrow)
Along the lower skirt area there are a few small holes in the fabric.. hard to ever see when worn.
So even though the waist area is snug at 30 inches, you would have to get the dress over your shoulders.. to get into it. It could always be opened up again, with added snaps or adding a zipper….. The only other thing I noticed is a couple small holes in the netting.. (see the image with my finger pointing out the one I noticed.
There is no slip included with this vintage dress. You would need a slip or body stocking, as it is obviously sheer enough that you can see completely through the fabric.
*There is no maker label or size in dress… which is typical of this period..
By the measurements, I would say that this dress is a WOMEN’S SMALL to MEDIUM
**Check Measurements below to be certain of the size:
Shoulder seam to seam: 17 inches
Bust taken under the arm pit to arm pit: 18 inches = 36 inches
Drop waist area: 18 inches = 36 inches
(mannequin 34b 28w 35h and it hangs nicely.. you could certainly be a few inches larger)
the dress should float over the waist and not be that fitted.
Hip area: free because of full skirt
Length from the top of the shoulder to the hem: 51 inches
